Deye SE-G5.3 battery storage for a matched solar system
The Deye SE-G5.3 is a lithium iron phosphate battery module with 5.32kWh nominal energy storage, 51.2V nominal voltage and 104Ah rated capacity. Available from Solar Deity in South Africa, it can be considered for a compatible low-voltage solar storage installation. Battery selection should follow the requirements of the complete system.
Check the exact model before comparing
Deye lists the SE-G5.3 separately from the SE-G5.1 Pro in its product documentation. Check the model label when comparing offers or expanding an existing installation. Similar product names do not establish that the capacities, accessories or installation requirements are identical.
Choose capacity and power separately
The 5.32kWh rating describes nominal stored energy. It does not promise a fixed number of hours of backup or a particular output at the sockets. The selected battery reserve, conversion losses and appliance demand affect the energy available to the home or workplace.
For a useful quotation, identify the essential circuits and how long each must run. Include any equipment with significant starting demand. The inverter output limit and the permitted battery operating current must both suit those loads; adding storage capacity alone does not increase an inverter’s power rating.

Installation and expansion planning
The SE-G5.3 has an IP20 enclosure. Plan a suitable protected installation location and have the installer check the mounting arrangement against the matching manual. Discuss access for inspection, the required accessories and the space available before ordering.
Expansion should use an approved configuration for the exact batteries and inverter. Share the models of existing equipment with Solar Deity so that communication compatibility, mounting and interconnection requirements can be reviewed. Do not assume that every Deye inverter uses the same battery voltage or accepts this module.

Why this model is rated at 5.32kWh
Multiplying 51.2V by 104Ah gives 5,324.8Wh, or 5.3248kWh, which the manufacturer presents as 5.32kWh. The 104Ah capacity is therefore an important part of the product identity. It should not be replaced by a generic 100Ah description copied from another Deye battery. Compared with the SE-G5.1 Pro at 5.12kWh, the difference is approximately 0.20kWh of nominal energy. Compare complete quotations as well as capacity, since the additional energy alone does not establish identical warranty, accessories or compatibility.
Working with the 4.79kWh usable reference
The paired datasheet lists 4.79kWh usable DC energy for SE-G5.3. It states test conditions and notes that the system configuration can change usable energy. As a units example, a constant 1kW DC-side demand would divide into that reference as 4.79 hours. An actual AC backup estimate must allow for inverter conversion, reserve settings, battery condition and changing appliance demand. A refrigerator or pump also cycles rather than behaving like a fixed laboratory load. Use a measured load schedule for the final system estimate.
Power delivery is not the 5.32kWh number
This battery has a listed recommended current of 50A and a maximum of 100A, while the peak entry is 150A for two minutes at 25°C. These current values answer a different question from stored energy. A high-power appliance can reach a system limit even when considerable energy remains in the battery. Conversely, a modest load may run longer but still be constrained by the chosen reserve. Both the inverter output and the battery operating limits must be considered when selecting the circuits that will be backed up.
An office or home installation with limited equipment space
For a protected equipment room, consider the mounting arrangement and service access before ordering. The manufacturer describes rack, wall and floor options with the appropriate hardware. The IP20 enclosure should not be treated as a weatherproof outdoor cabinet. Check whether the quotation includes the relevant bracket or rack and which communication and power cables are supplied. Keeping those items explicit is particularly useful when replacing a previous battery, because existing hardware may not match the SE-G5.3 version being offered.
Expansion needs an approved system arrangement
The brochure gives a family expansion reference of up to 64 packs, with external setup needed above 32. That is a system-design capability, not a recommendation for a household bank or a promise that an existing inverter accepts that quantity. Matching models, firmware, protection and communication arrangements must be reviewed. If the purpose is to extend a bank already on site, share its full battery and inverter labels. Do not interpret the common nominal voltage as approval to combine any Deye low-voltage batteries.
Keep the warranty tied to SE-G5.3
The shared product brochure contains separate model columns and different warranty entries. A statement about the Pro model should not be carried across simply because both batteries appear on the same sheet. Ask Solar Deity for the applicable SE-G5.3 terms, including time and throughput conditions, before purchase. Retain the quotation, model identification and commissioning documents together. This provides a clear reference for the supplied equipment instead of relying on a generic ten-year claim that may belong to a different version or market.
