Shoto SDC10-Box5 5.12kWh Battery
The Shoto SDC10-Box5 is a 51.2V battery with 5.12kWh nominal energy. It is a rack-format storage module with CAN and RS485 communication for a supported inverter configuration. Its front-panel arrangement is shown in the manufacturer product image below, alongside the specifications for this model.

Identify the SDC10 model before comparing
Shoto offers different battery products with similar rack-format appearances. Use the SDC10-Box5 model name when comparing capacity, operating limits and mounting requirements. A photograph of another Shoto front panel can hide important differences, so the manufacturer’s model-specific image and technical information are the reference for this listing.
Separate recommended operation from the maximum
The datasheet recommends 50A charge/discharge operation and lists a 100A maximum. These numbers should be considered alongside the inverter and DC installation limits. They do not guarantee a particular AC output at the household circuits. If the selected inverter is capable of more power, confirm that the battery arrangement can support the intended load.
Choose a usable-energy target
The 5.12kWh figure is nominal storage. Actual energy available to loads depends on the reserve, permitted discharge window and conversion losses. A home preserving more energy for interruptions will use less of the stored capacity during routine evening cycling. Decide which use matters most before comparing the nominal capacity of different storage quotations.
Rack planning needs more than a width label
Check the documented dimensions and weight against the proposed enclosure or mounting arrangement. Allow for connections, service access and the installation clearances specified by the manufacturer. A nominal rack format does not remove the need to verify the physical layout. The IP20 enclosure also means that the surrounding installation environment needs appropriate protection.
Communication should match the inverter
CAN and RS485 are interfaces, not universal compatibility guarantees. The actual inverter model and its supported battery protocol must be checked when commissioning the system. That is particularly relevant when replacing an older battery or adding storage to an existing installation. Retain the inverter and battery model records so that future changes can be assessed accurately.
Design for the expected charging period
If the battery will store daytime solar for evening use, compare the charging surplus with the overnight energy requirement. Additional storage is most useful when the system has energy available to fill it. Where the main objective is backup, identify the priority circuits and reserve policy instead of assuming that all household appliances should be supplied together.
